Bomarea edulis Antworten

Bomarea are beautiful vines from South America. B.edulis (syn. hirtella) is reliably hardy here in the UK.

The closer that you are to the flowers the better they are............

I grew mine from seed (easy, but slow to germinate) and I planted it out as it began its third growing season. The tubers are now planted 25 to 30cm deep in a dry spot in my garden. Growing it in the ground produces a far stronger plant of great vigour. This flower cluster is typical of a pot grown plant.............

This is how it looked in its first season growing in the ground.............

It scrambled through this Phygelius and even better it flowered just as the host plant finished its flowering period.

Hello LONGK,
the plant remains the whole winter in the garden ground?

Yes. For sure the growth dies to the ground but the tubers will (or I will say should) survive underground easily as they are deep.

Hello LONGK,
how deeply?

Next year I'll try it too. I hope I get seed. This spring they were sold off.

25 to 30cm deep. From seed I grew mine in a large pot for two summers to build up strong tubers first.

My toothache is too bad for sleep - I am up all night now

Oh this is bad. Do you know a lot about homoeopathy?
The homoeopathic means belladonna power C30
helps very well in toothaches.
